Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve got answers to everything you need to know about selecting the right pool table for your space, what equipment you will need, and more. How to Choose a Pool Table

When selecting the best pool table for your home, there are lots of things to consider from the size of your room to the types of games you will be playing. Let us help you find the perfect table for you! Key Considerations:

Will you only play pool? Or are you interested in additional games? Conversion tops allow you to play ping pong or on top of your air hockey or pool table, or even convert it to a dining top to host dinner.

Many of our tables come with a matching dining top. See Dining Top Pool Tables for a wide selection.

Do you need storage? Some tables have an integrated pull-out storage drawer, or you can purchase a separate wall or floor rack for your balls and cue.

Our minimum size requirements chart will help you determine the biggest pool table you can fit in your space, with a standard 57" cue, and still have room to shoot pool. You can also download our Game Room Planning Chart (PDF) with furniture templates to plan your space!

Will the table be indoors? Outdoors? Maybe sometimes both? Consider whether the table will need weather durability, and if so, check out our Outdoor Pool Tables.

Every pool table comes with a free 2-player Diplomat play kit that includes 2 cues, a bridge, 8 and 9 ball racks, a two piece cue wall rack, a brush, and a set of balls.

You have the option to upgrade your play kit to a multiple player Platinum or Centennial option. Other Pool Table Accessory Kits are also available should you need additional packages or other options.

The key elements of a quality billiard table are genuine diamond-honed slate, a solid frame/cabinet and strong legs/support. See our Pool Table Buying Guide for more details.

We offer many different styles to work well with your home décor, from traditional to modern to rustic and everything in between. Modern metal, distressed wood, or traditional finished wood are just some of the options. Check out our Portfolio page for real-world examples of pool tables in homes.

We offer more than 20 different felt colors to choose from for your table surface, and lots of customization options. Our BF Premium Cloth is 85% worsted wool/15% nylon, stain-treated, and will not pill, fluff or shed. Our Championship Cloth is 75% wool/25% nylon at an affordable price.

What kind of lighting is needed over the table, at what distance? When setting up your table keep in mind that normally a 3 or 4 light array provides the best light, hung about 30-35 inches above the table.

The majority of cues are two-piece comprising a forearm or butt with a one piece maple shaft. Pro style cues have low deflection shafts made by splicing pie shaped pieces together from 8 to 12 pieces. For these cues, graphics are hand or machine inlays, exotic woods, and more. Higher end cues generally have low deflection shafts, and many are made in USA. Low deflection shafts are stiffer and shoot straighter, but require lots of practice to get used to.

Cues under $250 generally do not have low deflection shafts. They are made overseas (usually in China). Decorative details are decals and laminates.

Carbon Fiber shafts are the newest trend. A carbon fiber shaft offers extra durability and won't ding, nick or scratch as easily as a wood shaft can. This is known to be a nuisance to every pool player.

A carbon fiber shaft is smoother and slicker than a wood shaft. This is due to a wood shaft being prone to collecting the oils off your hand, thus the chalk and dirt accumulating and creating an uncomfortable feeling while in stroke, with the shaft sticking to your skin.

A carbon fiber shaft is a slick material to begin with and with the added cue finishing process, the results offer the smoothest shaft that stays cleaner and glides sooo smoothly across the skin. Ahh! The smoother carbon fiber thus eliminates the usage of the cone chalk hand powder, which can be messy. Throw a glove on and you'll be gliding like the moonwalk dance.

A carbon fiber shaft ultimately offers the best value by combining the most enhanced performing, least deflection shaft in the market, for the all-around pool player and hustler!

Top brands we currently offer:

Predator Revo (originator of first published low deflection shaft), Cuetec Cynergy, Pechauer Rogue, McDermott Defy, Viking Siege

How quickly can I receive my table? In-stock tables can usually be delivered within one week, however, deliveries can vary based off of availability. Custom tables typically take from 2-6 months, and with Covid affecting the supply chain at varying degrees, some manufacturers have longer lead times than normal.

Yes! We offer three levels of installation service.

WHITE GLOVE: Our White Glove Installation is our highest level of service. We ship your pool table directly to a certified local installer, who will then contact you to set up your in-home installation. If an installer is unable to receive it, we will ship it directly to you. The installer will complete the installation at your residence and remove any debris. With White Glove installation, all you have to do is be home when the installer arrives - we do the rest! Your table will be professionally installed and comes with a lifetime warranty.

LOCAL DELIVERY & INSTALL: We offer local delivery and installation to local customers in areas surrounding our stores. We will call you to set up a delivery date and call the day before with a 2-hour window of arrival. We will come out and assemble your items and remove any debris that came with your product(s). Please see our Installation page for pricing and other details.

SHIP TO CURB: Pool tables will be shipped via UPS Freight, Fedex Freight, or third-party freighting company to the customers residence. The drivers are instructed to leave the product(s) on the curbside, or nearest edge of the property for the customer to bring into their residence. An option for a liftgate will be provided if the product has the option at checkout. Then the customer is responsible for moving the items into the home and installing.

Tables are constructed in customer's home and typically take up to two hours to complete. Billiard Factory handles the installation and the cost is based on the customer's location and level of service requested. Please see our Installation page for pricing and other details.
